Breeding Chart
The Coronation Sussex have lavender genetics. The following chart should help explain what you can expect if you cross Coronation Sussex with Light Sussex. Just substitute Lavender with Coronation and Light Sussex with Black. The chicks of the first cross between a Coronation and a Light Sussex would all visually look like a Light Sussex, but would all have a Lavender recessive gene (split). The chart should help explain this. Here is a link with graphics that might help as well.
If you mate:
Lavender X Lavender = 100% Lavender offspring
Lavender X Split = 50% Lavender, 50% Split offspring
Lavender X Black = 100% Split offspring
Split X Black = 50% Split, 50% Black offspring
Split X Split = 25% Lavender, 50% Split, 25% Black offspring
The Blue gene in Blue Laced Red Wyandottes does not breed true. There are 3 colors of BLR Wyandottes: Black, Blue & Splash. The following chart may help explain how the different color genes work with different combinations. Here is also the link with graphics that might help you visualize it better.
If you mate:
Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash
Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Splash X Black = 100% Blue
Black X Black = 100% Black
Splash X Splash = 100% Splash
The Blue gene in the Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas does not breed true either. There are also 3 colors of Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas: Wheaten, Blue Wheaten & Splash Wheaten. The following chart may help explain how the different color genes work with different combinations.
If you mate:
Blue Wheaten X Blue Wheaten = 50% Blue Wheaten, 25% Wheaten, 25% Splash Wheaten
Blue Wheaten X Splash Wheaten = 50% Blue Wheaten, 50% Splash Wheaten
Blue Wheaten X Wheaten = 50% Blue Wheaten, 50% Wheaten
Splash Wheaten X Wheaten = 100% Blue Wheaten
Wheaten X Wheaten = 100% Wheaten
Splash Wheaten X Splash Wheaten= 100% Splash Wheaten
This is based on 100 chicks. When working with smaller numbers it is possible to have varying results.
